A Saudi-led coalition has launched a significant military air operation named "Dawn of Yemen," involving 100 fighter jets, according to a statement by the coalition spokesperson. The operation provides continuous air support to Yemeni government forces in their ongoing conflict with Houthi rebels.
The air mission was initiated to bolster the Yemeni government's military efforts against the Houthis, who are in control of significant portions of northern Yemen. The coalition asserts that the air cover will assist Yemeni troops around the clock, suggesting an intensified phase in their support strategy.
This operation marks another chapter in the prolonged conflict, which has seen numerous military engagements since its inception. Persistent conflict in the region has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced and in need of aid.
Saudi Arabia’s coalition argues that these operations are crucial in curbing the influence and reach of the Houthi forces, who have been backed by Iran, a claim both parties have regularly disputed.
The question now is whether this increased military support will effectively change the dynamics on the ground or further entrench the ongoing stalemate.
